This T-intersection assembly utilizes metal studs with thermal insulation and two layers of five-eighths-inch gypsum board on each side. To maintain a continuous air barrier, the two layers of gypsum board are carried through the wall intersection. A sealed sheet metal or flexible flashing and air membrane (FFSAM) is applied at the junction, except where fire-rated wall assemblies require specific alternative detailing. A vapor barrier is installed on the data hall side of the wall as required. Refer to sheet A-61005 for additional information regarding Underwriters Laboratories design number U419.
