A concrete slab edge features a two-inch vertical drop and an eight-inch thickened edge bearing on compacted earth subgrade. The slab surface has a smooth steel trowel finish with a weakened plane joint located two feet from the edge. Reinforcement is placed within the slab and thickened edge where required per civil drawings. An exposed aggregate finish is specified adjacent to the joint.
