The assembly ties into a wood truss supporting 2x4 soffit framing and a horizontal soffit ceiling. A 1/2-inch treated plywood substrate is attached behind a vertical 9-1/4 inch by 1-inch cement fiber trim piece. The exterior wall cladding consists of cement fiber lap siding mounted over 7/8-inch hat channels. Caulk joints are specified at the junctions between the soffit and trim.
