An insulated cable or cable bundle passes through an opening in a concrete or CMU wall via an optional metal sleeve. The annular space around the cables is packed with fire safing insulation and sealed with fire-rated sealant on both sides per the rated assembly requirements. In masonry construction, the void around the sleeve is filled with cement mortar. The assembly achieves up to a three-hour fire rating in accordance with UL C-AJ-3030 or equivalent.
