This two-hour fire-resistant wall head detail connects a gypsum board partition to a supporting steel beam and concrete-filled fluted steel deck. A continuous twenty-gauge formed Z-clip with two-inch legs attaches to the bottom flange of the beam at sixteen inches on center maximum. A continuous twenty-two-gauge minimum three-inch deep leg deflection track connects to the Z-clip at sixteen inches on center maximum, allowing for structural movement without transferring load to the stud wall. Gypsum board and studs are left unattached to the deflection track in the specified zone, while a continuous two-inch wide by twenty-two-gauge metal strap secures the gypsum board at eight inches on center maximum. Mineral wool insulation fills the gap between the top of the wall and the spray-applied fire-resistive material. Spray-applied fireproofing is applied to the steel beam, deck flutes, and overlaps the gypsum board and deck by a minimum of one half inch on each side.
