A hollow structural section tube is enclosed within a UL-U469 one-hour shaftwall assembly. The framing incorporates 2 1/2-inch steel jamb struts and 1-inch shaft liner secured with 1 1/2-inch by 1 1/2-inch 20-gauge minimum clips. A layer of 5/8-inch gypsum board is applied to the exterior framing. An embed or post-applied steel baseplate anchors the assembly per structural requirements.
