An aluminum window frame head is secured beneath a steel stud header. 24-gauge prefinished metal flashing is installed at the head, integrated with a self-adhering membrane flashing that seals the entire opening. The exterior wall consists of 5/8-inch exterior gypsum sheathing with a fluid-applied air and moisture barrier, finished with an EIFS system. A weeped starter track is positioned at the transition between the EIFS and the window head. The interior side is finished with gypsum board over metal stud walls, while the window head is trimmed with a gasketed tear-away L-bead. Primary sealant joints are applied between the window frame and the flashing to ensure a weather-tight seal.
