A slab-on-grade construction joint (CJ) features a sequential first and second pour separated by a joint finished with a small radius tool at exposed edges. A three-quarter-inch diameter by twenty-four-inch plain steel rod dowel is embedded at mid-depth of the slab at twenty-four inches on center, with one end wrapped in building paper and extending one foot into the pour. The assembly rests over an underlayment specified per plan and geotechnical report requirements. A secondary sawcut control joint detail (SC) has a depth of T over four executed within twenty-four hours of the concrete pour.
