A suspended gypsum board ceiling is supported by a one-and-a-half-inch main channel and hat channel, carrying the gypsum board and finish as scheduled. The assembly is restrained against seismic loads using a minimum sixteen-gauge angle strut or channel with a maximum L/R ratio of two hundred. Eight-gauge wire hangers support the framing, supplemented by diagonal wire bracing at a forty-five-degree angle spaced within two inches maximum from the vertical strut.
