A concrete-filled metal deck floor slab supports a steel stair stringer assembly with a structural blockout as required up to one foot maximum. A flat plate is welded to the stringer alongside a bent plate between stringers, applied where the opening between stringers measures four inches or larger. A bent closure plate is positioned beyond, and a construction joint is detailed in the adjacent concrete slab. Dimensions indicate a minimum edge of slab distance of eight inches, with overall structural openings sized per the floor plan.
