A safety guardrail assembly at a sorter platform edge is constructed from hollow structural section members. The guardrail and intermediate rails consist of 1 1/2 inch by 1 1/2 inch by 1/8 inch hollow structural sections finished with safety yellow paint. The posts are spaced at a maximum of 4 feet on center and connect to the platform framing. A steel bent plate creates a toe plate at the platform edge, sized per structural drawings. The platform floor comprises a 3/4 inch resindeck installed over a metal deck.
