A suspended gypsum board soffit assembly hung from an open structural deck with hanger wires and lateral bracing. The framing consists of three and five-eighths inch, twenty-gauge metal studs spaced at sixteen inches on center with a matching metal track. Lateral bracing is achieved using a twenty-gauge metal stud away brace at forty-five degrees from the horizontal plane spaced at four feet on center. The finish layer comprises one layer of five-eighths inch gypsum board over metal framing fastened with bugle head self-drilling drywall screws at twelve inches on center with corner beads provided at edges. A scheduled acoustical ceiling and grid aligns with the soffit edge per the reflected ceiling plan.
