A suspended gypsum board ceiling system is supported by wire hangers secured to hanging clips on carrying channels. Staggered carrying channels overlap with channel bridging to maintain structural continuity across spans. Furring channels attach perpendicularly below the carrying channels to receive the gypsum board. Sag-resistant gypsum board panels are fastened using minimum 1-1/4 inch screws spaced at 12 inches on center typically. A control joint is incorporated where required, with interior ceiling control joints limited to a maximum spacing of 50 feet without perimeter relief.
