A one-hour rated hollow metal door head assembly is integrated into a cold-formed steel stud partition. A continuous twenty gauge metal runner sits atop a boxed metal stud header, which accommodates door openings up to eight feet wide. Batt insulation fills the wall cavity, and fire-rated sealant is applied to both sides between the frame and wall finish. A fire-rated hollow metal frame and fire-rated door complete the opening. The assembly complies with U.L. System No. U419 for the wall assembly, U.L. System No. SP-3-001 for fire door and window assemblies, and NFPA 80 for standard fire doors and other opening protectives. Dimensions show variable conditions for three and five-eighths inch studs totaling six inches, and six-inch studs totaling eight and one-quarter inches.
