An electrical metallic tubing conduit serves as a vertical compression strut to brace a suspended ceiling grid against lateral loads. The top and bottom ends of the conduit are crimped flat and attached to the overhead structure and the main runner using two number twelve sheet metal screws each. A one-inch wide by twelve-gauge minimum steel strap anchors the strut assembly to a concrete metal deck structure above. Maximum recommended lengths for the vertical struts are six feet two inches for half-inch conduit, eight feet six inches for three-quarter-inch conduit, and ten feet zero inches for one-inch conduit.
