A painted Schedule 40 downspout drops down the face of the exterior wall, secured by a steel bracket fastened to a steel backing plate over a continuous air and water-resistive barrier. The bracket is set in a bed of sealant, and sealant with a backer rod is applied to the base coat rather than the finish coat. The downspout discharges two inches above a linear grate and NDS Duraslope channel drain set into a concrete walkway. The concrete walkway slopes away from the building toward the drain, which connects to a drain pipe below the walkway.
