A gate valve is installed on a polyvinyl chloride mainline using schedule 80 polyvinyl chloride male adapters. The assembly is housed inside a six-inch polyvinyl chloride pipe surrounded by four inches of pea gravel with no soil in the box. Two total bricks provide base support beneath the ten-inch round plastic valve box with a bolt-down lid. The top of the valve box sits flush with finish grade in a lawn or zero inches to one inch above finish grade in shrub and groundcover areas.
