A one-and-a-half-inch diameter steel pipe handrail is mounted on top of the stair stringer in accordance with O.S.S.C. requirements. A one-quarter-inch thick stiffener plate is welded to the handrail post using three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds typical at each location. The stair fabricator provides shop drawings for the handrail profile per architectural drawings.
