An insulated metallic pipe or conduit penetrates a gypsum wall board partition and is sealed with a firestop system. The joint around the penetration is filled with an ASTM E-648 Class 2 sealant installed to a five-eighths inch depth with a quarter-inch crown. The assembly complies with UL system number WL5014 to achieve a one or two hour fire rating.
