A hollow structural section brace connects to a concrete slab using a half-inch thick gusset plate welded with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. The gusset plate ties into a three-quarter by twelve by ten-inch embedment plate secured in the concrete with four three-quarter-inch diameter headed welded studs. A four-inch minimum clearance is maintained at the brace intersection. The assembly transfers lateral loads from the structural brace into the concrete floor slab.
