A prefinished sheet metal flashing is installed over insulation at the window sill, sloping one quarter inch per foot outward and set over solid metal shims. The window unit is bedded in a continuous silicone sealant over a foil-faced self-adhered membrane upturn, tied into the continuous perimeter seal. A two-inch tall steel member spans the rough opening at the bottom of the panel, backed by a one-and-a-half by one-and-a-quarter inch aluminum angle. A stainless steel cover flashing and two-by-two-inch non-combustible blocking protect the rough opening substrate, with silicone sealant over a backer rod sealing the panel and glazing joints.
