An architectural expansion joint assembly is positioned between adjacent shaft walls. The system incorporates a two-hour rated shaft wall on one side and a zero-hour shaft wall on the other. A Balco Metaflex 2000 or similar two-hour expansion joint spans the gap near the top. A Balco GCVSC5 or similar expansion joint cover finishes the joint below. Ceiling or reference heights of nine feet are indicated on both sides.
