The guardrail assembly consists of a 1 1/2-inch outside diameter steel pipe top rail and mid-rail welded to a 1 1/2-inch outside diameter main vertical steel pipe post. The vertical posts are spaced at a maximum of 5 feet on center. Each exterior main vertical pipe includes a 1/4-inch diameter vent hole at the top and a 1/4-inch diameter weep hole at the base. The post is anchored into an 8-inch concrete retaining wall or slab using a preset steel sleeve or a core-drilled hole 1 inch larger than the pipe size, set in non-shrink grout such as Sika Grout 212. The base of the post is continuously welded to a 12-inch by 2-inch by 1/4-inch hollow structural section steel tube stringer with welds ground smooth. Grout is sloped up at the base to drain water away from the post.
