A thermally broken aluminum storefront door head interfaces with a brick masonry veneer supported by a structural steel angle. Self-adhered membrane flashing and prefinished through-wall flashing direct moisture outward above the opening. Closed-cell spray foam insulation fills the cavity alongside mitered insulation behind a prefinished brake metal trim piece set in a continuous bed of sealant. A fluid-applied air barrier coats the backup wall, and sealant with backer rod seals the joint on both sides above the horizontal aluminum mullion.
