An aluminum curtain wall sill rests upon a concrete curb with an eight-and-three-quarter-inch width, supported by a two-inch shim and twenty-four-gauge stainless steel sill featuring welded closed ends at the exterior projection set in a full bed of sealant. The curb top is protected with a self-adhering sheet membrane waterproofing. A continuous bead of sealant with backer rod is applied at the aluminum sill and exterior interfaces. Stainless steel fasteners secure components at twelve inches on center maximum, with sealed heads typical. Metal or pressure-treated blocking is installed below the solid surface cladding at the curb face. Concrete paving at the slab level abuts the curb with a sealant and backer rod over a compressible filler, while a continuous bead of gun-grade hydrophilic waterstop is positioned typically at the cold joint.
