The assembly consists of a one-and-a-half-inch diameter steel pipe handrail supported by vertical steel pipe posts spaced at a maximum of six feet on center. The top three inches of each vertical support are reduced in diameter to provide a continuous gripping surface for the handrail. The posts are secured into the concrete walk and curb using a two-inch diameter by twelve-inch long steel pipe sleeve cast into the concrete, with the rail inserted and the void filled with grout. The handrail includes a minimum twelve-inch extension beyond the top and bottom of the ramp, returning to the wall, guard, or landing surface. All welds are to be ground smooth and pits filled, with the assembly primed and painted unless noted otherwise.
