A control joint is cut into a concrete slab with a depth of one-quarter of the slab thickness plus one and one-quarter inches minimum. The six-inch concrete slab is reinforced with number three bars at eighteen inches on center each way. The slab bears on a six-inch layer of Class II aggregate base compacted to ninety-five percent. Below the base sits a twelve-inch layer of compacted fill installed per the soils report.
