Steel beams connect to wide-flange columns using bolted shear tabs, with options shown for framing into both the column flange and the column web. The assembly incorporates a one-half inch thick column cap plate typically used unless noted otherwise. A five-sixteenth inch fillet weld secures the beam connections where noted on plans. The web connection option includes one-half inch top and bottom plates with cope stiffener plates as required, maintaining specified maximum clearances of three inches and five-eighths of an inch.
