A partition head aligns parallel to a concrete-filled metal deck to achieve a one-hour fire rating per Underwriters Laboratories design HW-D-0633. The top track sits beneath the fluted metal deck with a specified one-inch clearance gap for vertical deflection. Gypsum board layers fasten to both sides of the metal stud framing up to the deflection track. Ceiling gypsum board intersects the partition wall below on each side with edge trim.
