A structural steel beam is coated in spray-applied fireproofing with care taken to avoid overspraying at the deck. Three and five-eighths inch metal studs are framed around the fireproofed beam, set one-half inch clear from the face of the fireproofing. Five-eighths inch gypsum board spans from stud to stud to enclose the assembly.
