An aluminum window system rests on exterior framing and exterior sheathing, bedded on shams as required. A self-adhered flashing pan and waterproofing membrane are installed below the window sill, sloped a minimum of one-quarter inch per foot to shed moisture. A pre-finished aluminum sill pan matches the exterior insulation finish system wall, secured over exterior sheathing and a weather-resistive barrier. A backer rod and sealant seal the joint beneath the aluminum window system mullion, which features a weep hole. Any penetrations in the waterproofing membrane and weather-resistive barrier are fully sealed.
