A six-foot nine-inch long concrete filled steel pipe is embedded inside a twelve-inch diameter concrete footing with a three-inch bottom clearance. The top of the concrete inside the pipe is sloped and painted to match the post. The exterior polyvinyl chloride or concrete footing extends two inches above the finished grade in landscape areas with one-half inch rounded edges, while maintaining a level finish at the interior of the building. The total height above grade measures four feet, with a three-foot footing depth below. Guard posts are typically six inches in diameter with a one-quarter inch minimum thickness, spaced at three feet zero inches on center around transformer pads, two feet six inches in front of fire hydrants, and eighteen inches in front of truck well ramp walls.
