A two-inch diameter handrail and guardrail assembly attaches near the floor edge with vertical pickets or space bars. Intermediate bars are spaced so a four-inch diameter sphere cannot pass through any opening up to a height of thirty-four inches. The total height from the floor to the top of the guardrail is three feet six inches, with a three-foot clearance to the lower intermediate rail.
