The bottom track of the shaft wall is secured to the concrete floor slab with fasteners per structural drawings. Steel studs are fastened to the track with one sheet metal screw on each side of every stud. Gypsum board stops one-half inch above the floor to receive a backer rod and sealant, using white smoke or acoustic sealant at non-rated partitions and red fire sealant at rated partitions. Additional layers of gypsum board are applied where required.
