This two-hour fire-resistant head-of-wall assembly connects a framed partition wall to an overhead concrete floor or roof slab using a continuous twenty-two gauge minimum three-inch deep leg deflection track attached to the slab at twelve inches on center maximum. The gap between the slab and the top of the wall is filled with mineral wool insulation. Spray-applied firestop material is applied to each side with a minimum one-half inch overlap at the gypsum board and slab. A continuous two-inch wide by twenty-two gauge metal strap ties the gypsum board together with fasteners spaced at eight inches on center maximum. Gypsum board and studs remain unattached to the deflection track in this designated movement area.
