The assembly consists of a welded plate tread supported by a hollow structural section 12 inch by 2 inch by 1/4 inch steel tube. The steel tube is painted where exposed, unless noted otherwise. A continuous backer rod and joint sealant are installed between the steel tube and the adjacent wall, which is sized per plan. A 1/2 inch gap is maintained between the tread and the wall, unless noted otherwise.
