A single rabbet door frame transitions between a fire-rated partition and a gypsum board finish over metal stud framing or hat channels on a concrete shear wall. The assembly provides a minimum thirty-two-inch clear opening with a scheduled door leaf and a door closer mounted above. A recessed junction box serves the hold-open device located above, while corner beads finish the gypsum board edges at the opening.
