A vertical control or expansion joint occurs between two insulated tilt-up concrete wall panels. The assembly consists of concrete wall panels with a continuous core of rigid insulation, maintaining a two-inch thickness as sized per schedule. The joint cavity is packed with low-expansion urethane foam or mineral wool insulation between the panel edges. Closed-cell backer rods and elastomeric sealant are installed on both the interior and exterior sides to seal the joint. Chamfered concrete edges create a three-quarter-inch reglet profile at the exterior and interior faces to receive the sealant bead.
