A diagonal wall brace formed from a 3-5/8 inch by 18 gauge steel stud connects the top track of a non-bearing interior wall to the overhead structure at approximately 45 degrees. The brace features clipped flanges at each end to form shoes for fastening. Four screws secure the upper shoe to the lowest portion of the corrugated metal deck, taking care not to penetrate the roofing above, or alternatively to the bottom chords of the joist. Four screws secure the lower shoe directly into the top track of the steel stud wall.
