The stair landing is supported by a hollow structural section steel column measuring 4x4x3/8 with a one-half-inch thick cap plate welded with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. A C12x20.7 steel beam frames into the column using a three-eighths-inch by three-and-a-half-inch by nine-inch shear plate fastened with three three-quarter-inch diameter A-325 bolts.
