Concrete masonry unit wall intersections feature single and double layers of reinforcing. The assembly includes two number five vertical bars minimum at corners with standard hooks on inner bars, and seventy-two bar diameter lap splices. Face shells may be removed with open end units full height at wall intersections typically. Vertical reinforcement is aligned with the centerline of the concrete masonry unit wall with one and three-quarter inch clearance to the outside face in the two-layer configuration. Lap splices may be used at bent corner bars unless noted otherwise on plans.
