The assembly is built over a concrete slab supporting a metal stud wall faced with cementitious backer board. A site-built continuous watertight sheet membrane is installed behind the finish layers and extends a minimum of six inches up the wall. A tile base is applied over a bond coat directly above the membrane-lined base. The shower pan slopes toward the drain at one-quarter inch per foot in accordance with the California Plumbing Code.
