The steel channel stringer bears onto a six-inch thickened concrete slab and is secured using a half-inch diameter expansion bolt six inches deep. A two-by-two-by-three-eighths-inch steel angle, four inches long, is welded to the stringer. All cut and exposed ends feature a steel plate welded to the stringer and ground smooth. A six-inch deep sleeve accommodates the main vertical handrail post where required.
