A structural knife plate penetrates the exterior wall assembly, flanked by backing rod and sealant joints above and below the penetration. The exterior build-up comprises metal siding or siding per elevation, furring, primary weather-resistive barrier, and weather-resistive barrier self-adhered liner, with liquid applied flashing sealing the transitions. Rigid insulation and framing back the assembly on the interior side, maintaining the building envelope continuity around the structural steel connection.
