A three-eighths-inch thick base plate connects a one and one-quarter-inch Schedule 40 vertical pipe post with four half-inch diameter screw anchors or threaded rods featuring epoxy embedment to a minimum depth of four and one-half inches. A five-sixteenths inch fillet weld secures the pipe to the base plate. A four-by-three-eighths-inch flat bar toe kick is positioned at the walking surface. Vertical pipe posts are spaced at a maximum of five feet on center with a height of three feet six inches.
