This assembly consists of a light gauge metal framing system supporting a gypsum board soffit and vertical light cove. A half-inch fire-retardant treated plywood backing is installed at the cove base to provide a mounting surface for the LED light fixture, which is sized per electrical drawings. The soffit is finished with five-eighths-inch gypsum board over light gauge metal framing, maintaining a five-and-three-eighths-inch vertical drop from the ceiling plane. The cove geometry includes a four-inch horizontal shelf and an eight-inch angled clearance for light distribution, with all finish materials specified per the reflected ceiling plan.
