A continuous twenty-two gauge minimum three-inch deep-leg deflection track attaches directly to the underside of a concrete floor or roof slab at twelve inches on center maximum. The metal studs terminate within the track, leaving the top unattached to allow for vertical slab deflection while maintaining a smoke-resistant seal. A continuous two-inch wide by twenty-two gauge metal strap fastens the top of the studs lower down on the assembly. Sealant applies along the partition joints. Gypsum board and studs remain unfastened to the deflection track in the designated upper slip zone.
