A hollow structural section steel tube of size HSS12x2x1/4 is installed adjacent to a wall, featuring a half-inch gap unless noted otherwise. A continuous backer rod and joint sealant seal the junction between the steel tube and the wall type specified on plan. A welded plate tread ties into the assembly, and the steel tube is painted where exposed unless noted otherwise. Engineering and welds must comply with performance specifications.
