A pipe penetrates through the concrete stem wall and beneath the bottom of the footing with a typical two-inch clearance. For pipes located three feet or less below the footing, a sleeve and concrete are provided as shown. For pipes located more than three feet below the footing, backfill over the pipe is compacted to ninety percent as approved by the soils engineer or a stepped footing is used below the pipe. Sleeves are sized two inches larger than the outside diameter of the pipes.
