A structural steel beam connects to a steel column using a three-quarter-inch plate welded to the column with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld configured to clear the k-area. A secondary beam frames in above with a bolted shear tab connection. The assembly is detailed for special frame moment connections or gravity framing per plan.
